A temporal lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure designed to address signs of aging around the eye. Indeed, when eyebrows do sag, the face look tired, dull and even sad. When they are lifted, the whole face look bright and attractive. Also, eyebrows movements determine the expression of the face (surprise, doubtful, sad…etc). However, the excessive use of the eyebrows may lead to the appearance of deep forehead furrows, and frown lines. Sometimes, this can be perceived as early aging signs.
The best candidate for temporal lift
The best candidate for temporal lift or lateral brow lift is men or women who are in their 40s or 50s and have begun to notice some facial ageing process around the eyes. The brow start to sag and there is appearance of crow’s feet at the corner of the eyes and mid face.
Technically, there are two modern cosmetic surgery techniques for Temporal lifting or Lateral brow lift.
- The Keyhole endoscopic technique: the surgeon uses and endoscope with a camera and few short incisions within the hairline.
- The temporal lift with short incisions placed about one inch behind the hairline. This techniques are a better alternatives to repeated use of Botox®, and they do minimize crow's feet around your eyes. Dr. Mounir makes two small incisions above the hairline. Using specialized instruments, the temporal fascia will be tightened and fixed into place with surgical staples. The process only takes around 60 minutes. The cosmetic surgery results can be noticed immediately and there are no drains or dressings required. The surgery could be combined with other cosmetic surgeries. The temporal lifting usually will be performed under general anaesthesia as day case at the Bridgewater hospital in Manchester or Highgate Hospital in London.
The recovery process for temporal lift cosmetic surgery patients is short. Normal activities and work can be resumed within a 7 to 10 days and shower would be allowed within five to seven days. Little bit discomfort is normal. There may be little bit swelling involved for a five or seven days but it disappears rapidly. Bruising or numbness is normal after the surgery. Patients can also apply makeup after five days of surgery.
Risks and complications
All surgery carries some risks, but having a registered qualified London brow lift surgeon such as Dr. Mounir performing the procedure ensures that complications are rare. Nevertheless it is important to be aware that the complications that can occur include:
- Nerve damage (very rare) resulting in a loss of the ability to raise your eyebrows. Additional surgery may be able to correct it, or it may be permanent.
- Formation of a broad scar leading to Hair loss along scar edges.
- Infection and bleeding.
